Hey there drivers!
So I've managed to do some laps on the first track of the season for tge Custom Sports Cars class, Didiersachsenring. I want to discuss the track and its laptimes here.
I think it's a nice track. I think I see what was the creator going for here. There's practically no way you could collide with any lightpoles, or anything like that. The track is very clean, and the fact you that don't have to focus on not hitting those lightpoles but you can just focus on your racing line definitely gives it more of a real racetrack feel. The props, on the other hand, kinda kill the immersion, because there's a lot of containers around. All just to prevent you from going too far from the track, they are not there to serve as obstacles creating corners, which is good. There are barriers for that. They're all well placed, I've never felt like there were an annoyance. The racing line is not so hard to maintain, unlike something along the lines of Cutting Coroners. I got to know the track pretty quickly, and within 3 laps I was already trying to find those perfect lines. A decent line is not hard to find here. A great line, one that can beat a decent line by maybe 3 seconds a lap is quite a different matter, though. I'm gonna post my laptimes, then discuss the racing line.
So, here goes:
1st try: 10 laps, 10:15:261 overall time (OT), 1:00:148 best lap (BL). -I haven't had any problems with the track from the start. I didn't pust so hard this time, so I managed to do all 10 laps without any major collision/spin.
2nd try: 10 laps, 10:12:655 OT, 0:58:380 BL. -Now I was breaking into those 59s regularly. Worst lap couldn't have been more than 1:01:something. That best lap, however, was a problem. I hadn't managed to do a 58 any other time than that one.
3rd try: 15 laps, 15:02 OT, 59:281 BL. -Now as you can see, pretty much every lap except the first one had to be a 59 here, but I haven't managed to do another 58, not even once. It should be doable. The problem is, I don't know what did I do differently that one time I did make it to the 58s. I think I managed to do the final chicane way faster than the other times, but I can't seem to reproduce it.
All these times were attained with the Elegy. I do have a custom Jester, but I wasn't quite fast enough with it. I'd like to try the Massacro, as I think its braking and acceleration could help it a lot here, but I don't have it. I have to say, the Elegy drives like a dream on this track. There's not one area where it would slide out. The Jester was significantly faster in the first corner though. You go pretty fast into almost a full stop, and the Jester can start braking a few meters later than the Elegy does.
Now, there's one thing I'd like to aim at the Administration here. In the transition from corner 1 to corner two, the best line seems to be on the sidewalk. Are we allowed to take it, or is it off limits? I'd like to just clear that up, so it doesn't cause any confusion during qualifying. Also, does setting the weather to current actually give a possibility of rain during the race? Because I've had it to current every time, but not a drop of water fell during my sessions.
So there's my 2 bits about this track. Once I do some more laps on it and have some more relevant information to share, I'll post it here.
